A brief story of my trials and tribulations to get this particular pet:
I killed Twin Emperors three times on my monk and paladin - easy to do with the nerf to their self-healing now - and each time, Vek'lor would disappear without leaving any loot. You have to do a certain amount of damage to him through the course of the fight - I found just throwing an attack or two at him every 10-15 seconds to be sufficient - or he will go home and take his loot with him. Once I started distributing my punishment between the twins, I got the pet on my next kill.
